At VizionDM, we have spent nearly 30 years working with Camera teams in both 1st, 2nd Unit and Mo Con. Thru TecViz we plan shots at a location to benefit small stage spaces, plan work with 2 Sets within 1 Stage for alternate shooting, or can create 20-30 shots achievable from one crane / track placement. Working directly with the DP or Prod Designer, we at VizionDM can provide either shot by shot positional plans and camera coordinates for the 1st AD, full positional files for a Crane / TechnoDolly Team or just physical location plotting and plan data sheets from Satellite coordinate Ref.
PreViz drives the collaboration of Key departments at an early stage, so is able to remove the guesswork from Set Construction, removing both percentages of materials and labor costs while highlighting the VFX matte Paint and Set Extension assets required in multiple scenes or episodes.
It aids the logging of all Assets for VFX use on the project reducing further wastage and provides 'exploration of a Set Location 6 months ahead of the build, without the Director and Art team having to be 'on-site'.
PreViz drives the Virtual Production process to identify and test the assets required to be produced for LED walls, or for realtime thru the lens composition On Set, saving significant guesswork, errors, wastage and therefore budget. PreViz helps camera teams identify problematic or complex shots months in advance and creates solutions for each. It helps Stunt Directors plan ahead for dangerous and time consuming shots for rigging, safety and multiple camera positions. Finally, PreViz drives the VFX Asset and Shot lists and identifies where it's more cost effective to add a 2nd Camera or 'clean plate' rather than months of additional Post work.
PreViz can therefore help make savings in Wardrobe, Construction, Lighting, Camera indeed any and all departments. This is proven.
Yes and No. PreViz can be as simple as a script discussion, several images and Camera angles of a shot that may be complex or dangerous to shoot. It can be used inexpensively with free asset libraries to build scenes, more like a moving Storyboard and Edit for basic on set guidance. Or it can be highly complex with Camera's matching On Set Film Backs, move data export to a TechnoDolly or Bolt and CG elements being created for LED wall or VFX Layer creation. The limits of PreViz are only bounded by your imagination and is completely scalable in terms of Budget and Schedule.
PreViz is the first step for a Director to visualize a project, the scenes, assets or an edit and how they will look quickly and cost effectively.
These can be either the most complex scenes technically, requiring significant amounts of VFX, a sequence to show the pacing of a CG character against an Actor, an environment on fire that an Actor will have to run thru, or a car crashing into an object and how to achieve that safely.
At it's most basic, PreViz is a moving storyboard with Virtual camera's, designed to start discussion of Production across every department of the project.
TecViz is the Technical translation of VP Shots, Camera's and Lenses from the Previz inc Assets and Camera positioning within an environment, Lens Focal Lengths, Coordinate Data, pacing and movement to enable the matching of Shot Composition and elements accurately to the real world environment.
This can range from the D.o.P' s vision or exploration of a Set by remote, as well as Stage Set ups for Chroma walls, LED screens and Stunt Rigging (StuntViz) in order to 'pre build' and 'test' the Set environment and the proposed actions for accuracy, safety and VFX elements prior to the start of Shooting.
At VizionDM we have a Senior Team of Core Creators with over 20 Years experience in CG Animation Development and Pre-Production.
We have created Characters, Sets and the Final Visual Look of production elements across marquee projects prior to the start of Full CG Anim Production.
With our experience as HOD's at Key Studios worldwide, we are able to design assets and create custom pipelines for projects that allows our LookDev to 'Plug and Play' into any Production pipeline.

At VizionDM we are able to Design, Create and animate Character Assets at real world scale for positioning either 'On-Set' thru the Camera EVF, to On Set Monitors or thru LED Walls - for Actors realtime interaction or for D.o.P's Shot Composition.
Enabling realtime On Set composition of live and VP elements for Directors exploration and line up / positioning of assets, and pacing of shots.
With the inclusion of LiDar Assets or Modeled Environments, we are able to 'explore' these locations 'at will' with all Key Creatives to plan Shooting ahead of Stage arrival.
We are able to translate our virtual Camera Data from Maya or U.E. into 'Flair' or FBX data files thru our TechViz process - to export Camera, Lens and positional data to 'Bolt', TechnoDolly', 'Unreal' or other Camera based Robotic Software.
We have worked extensively with NCam in the UK Supervising On Set Realtime Camera Tracking and Virtual Production Imagery thru On Set Monitors.
This provides Directors and D.o.P' s with realtime thru the lens composited visuals for more accurate shot composition, actors and action pacing, Character eyeline and CG Asset interaction. As well as realtime Camera positional data streaming output for Live Compositing of layers.
The realtime data from NCam can be streamed to provide On Set Comps and Post Viz shot recording.
At VizionDM we do utilize A.I. in our LookDev and PreViz process to create 'discussion' images to help drive a project forwards visually at the early discussion and design stages.
We make use of ML (Machine Learning) in Plug ins' provided within existing software like 'MiArmy' for Crowd Simulations, 'Houdini' for Water or Particle FX and 'Unreal' for Set Creation and Animation. This utility is used to speed up our PreViz Asset creation and shot delivery process.
These processes are at a 'guide stage' and are not at 'Final Image' resolution, therefore our pipeline process still requires the work of Artists to creatively complete the Assets, Shots or Data in their final form.
At VizionDM we regularly work with Production Designers, Art Directors and Stunt Coordinators to create Set assets based upon Floor Plan schematics. We create Fly Thru's, Camera positioning and movement plotting for full AR capable Assets to review in realtime on phones, iPads, Headsets, TTL, LEDs and On Set Monitors.
We are able to supply FBX, AutoCAD or ReVit assets and floor plans of Sets and Locations created within Film Sound Stages or on Film Backlots for use by the Production Designer and Construction crews.
TecViz Model assets can be utilized to guide final asset CG construction for Set Extensions in CG and VFX during Post including Camera and Lens data created at the PreViz stage.
At VizionDM we work both in PreViz for Live Action and Virtual Production but also have 20+ years history in CG Anim Character and Set Layout for Film, HETV and Games.
Working thru Shotgrid (Shotgun) and Cinecync / FrameIO we are able to link thru to any project pipeline thru our VPN Server to the client Project Library to create Layout, Camera and Key Posing of Shots for Scenes, Episodes or full Movies.
