TERMINOLOGY

PREVIZ

PreViz is the first step for a Director to visualize a project, the scenes, assets or an edit and how they will look, quickly and cost effectively.


 Shots can be either, the most complex scenes technically, requiring significant amounts of VFX, to show the pacing of a CG character against an Actor, an environment on fire that an Actor will have to run thru, or a car crashing into an object, plan how to achieve that safely.


 At it's most basic, PreViz is a moving Storyboard Edit with Virtual camera's, designed to start discussion of a Project across every Department of the Production. 

TECHVIZ

TecViz is the Technical translation of VP Shots, Camera's and Lenses from the Previz inc Assets and Camera positioning within an environment, Lens Focal Lengths, Coordinate Data, pacing and movement to enable the matching of Shot Composition and elements accurately to the real world environment.


 This can range from the D.o.P' s vision or exploration of a Set by remote, as well as Stage Set ups for Chroma walls, LED screens and Stunt Rigging (StuntViz) in order to 'pre build' and 'test' the Set environment and the proposed actions for accuracy, safety and VFX elements prior to the start of Shooting.

LOOKDEV

LookDev at VizionDM we have a Senior Team of Core Designers / Creators with 20+ Years in CG Animation Development and Pre-Production.


We have created Characters, Assets, Sets and the Final Look of production elements across prior to the start of Full CG Anim Production.


With our experience as HOD's at Key Studios worldwide, and now utilizing Midjourney, Runway and Higgsfield AI, we are able to Design Shots, Colour Palettes, Key Assets and create custom pipelines that allows our LookDev to 'Plug and Play' into any Project.


A.I.

LOOKDEV

At VizionDM we utilize Pro A.I. in our LookDev and PreViz process to create 'development' images to plan, vizualise and drive a project forwards at early script, development and design stages. 


We use MidJourney, Runway and Higgsfield AI LLM's as well as Plug ins' within existing software 'MiArmy' for Crowd Sims / Water or Particle FX and 'Unreal' for Set Creation and Animation. Used to speed up our PreViz Asset Creation and shot delivery process. 


Our Artists design traditionally and then utilize the LLM's to replicate, expand, revise and enhance Assets for creative discussion. Our process still requires the work of our Artists to complete the Final Assets.

VIRTUAL PRODUCTION

At VizionDM we are able to Create, Rig and Animate Character Assets at real world scale for positioning 'On-Set' thru the Camera EVF, to On Set Monitors or thru LED Walls - for Actors realtime interaction or for Shot Composition. 


We can provide On Set composition of VP elements for Directors exploration and line up / positioning of assets or pacing of shots.


With the inclusion of LiDar / Photogrammetry  based Assets and Realtime Tracking Assets Mod we are able to provide 'exploration' these locations with all Key Creatives to plan Shooting ahead of On Set arrival.

BOLT / TECHNODOLLY

We are able to export our VP Camera Data from Maya  or U.E. into 'Flair' or FBX move data files, to drive Bolt, Technodolly or Motion Base Rigs.

REALTIME CAM TRACK

We have worked with NCam / CinCraft in the UK Supervising On Set Realtime Camera Tracking and Virtual Production thru Camera, Lens and On Set Monitors. 


It provides Directors and D.o.P' s with realtime Composited visuals for accurate shot composition. Actors for action pacing, eyeline and CG Asset interaction. 


The realtime exported data from NCam / Cincraft can be streamed to provide On Set Comps and Post Viz shot recording.

CG / VP SET DESIGN

We work with PD's Action Directors and Stunt Coordinators to create Set Assets, thru ReVIT / AutoCAD and Floor Plan schematics. We create Fly Thru's, Camera movement plotting for full AR capable Assets to review in realtime on phones, iPads, Headsets, LED Walls and On Set Monitors. 


We export tested and approved files FBX, AutoCAD or ReVit for use by the PD and Construction crews in Final Planning, Construction and Camera Positioning.

We also have 25+ years history in CG Animation Layout for Film, HETV and Games.


We are able to link thru to any project pipeline thru our VPN Server to the client Project Library to create Layout, Camera and Key Posing of Shots for Scenes, Episodes or full Movies. 


We have worked for Walt Disney TV, BBC, Nickelodeon, Ragdoll, C.N, Netflix, Klasky-Csupo, Paramount, 20th Century Fox, Lego, Brown Bag, Henson's and Gullane Ent. producing Layout, Camera content and Final files on a host of Award winning projects.
